Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen is in third place in their table. They find themselves in third place of the UEFA Champions League Group A table. They’re a third of the way through group play so there is plenty of games left to improve their positioning. They’re only one point behind Manchester United and Shakhtar Donetsk who sit ahead of them in the table.

“Shakhtar have a good team and great individual quality,” Bayer Leverkusen coach Sami Hyypia said, via ESPN FC. ”They have lots of variety in attack and often switch positions. They are better going forward than defending. It will be important to communicate a lot and stay strong at the back.”

Shakhtar feels confident heading into the match.

“I have a lot of confidence in my team when we play in the Champions League,” Shakhtar coach Mircea Lucescu. ”I’m much more concerned about the Ukrainian Premier League games. It is hard to mobilize the players in the environment we sometimes have to play, with not very good pitches, half-empty stadiums.”
