Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens today announced that he sees Gerald Wallace and Jeff Green as his starting wings, which means that either Jordan Crawford or Avery Bradley will be regulated to bench duty.

#Celtics coach Brad Stevens sees Green, Wallace both as wings, which indicates Bradley OR Crawford (not both) will start to start year.

Of course, despite one coming off the bench, that doesn’t mean they won’t get ‘starter minutes’ especially with Rajon Rondo out for the foreseeable future.

Crawford has played pretty well during the preseason and did so after his deadline trade to the Celtics last season, though Bradley brings with him a tough defensive game that could slow down opposing point guards – a highly important asset.

Either way, both should see significant minutes in the Celtics backcourt while the Wallace and Green announcement should give the Celtics some solid length this year. And considering their roster, they’re going to need all the advantages they can get.
