Lyerla left the Ducks football team earlier this year, and it was reported last week Lyerla planned to hire an agent and enter the 2014 NFL Draft.
Lyerla missed the Ducks’ Oct. 5 win over Colorado while serving a one-game suspension for a violation of team rules. He also missed the Tennessee game for reportedly being sick.
The former Duck said following his departure in a school statement that he was on good terms when he left Oregon:
“I love everyone at Oregon; everyone’s on good terms, I believe,” Lyerla said. “Just for my own benefit, it was time to move on.”
“I wish nothing but the best for coach Helfrich and the team. I love the University of Oregon and am so thankful for every opportunity that I had. I’m going to use everything I learned from this program and do my best to be successful in whatever happens in the future.”
He played in three games this season and had two catches for 26 yards and three rushes for 17 yards and one touchdown. He finished his Oregon career with 34 receptions for 565 yards and 11 touchdowns.
