New York Rangers goalie, Henrik Lundqvist will miss Thursday’s game against the Flyers with an undisclosed injury. In net for the Rangers tomorrow will be Cam Talbot, who the Rangers just brought up from the AHL following Martin Biron’s retirement announcement.
Lundqvist will not serve as a back up for the game either, that responsibility will be given to Jason Missiaen.
According to ESPN,
Asked about the “minor issue” hampering Lundqvist, coach Alain Vigneault said it has been something the former Vezina Trophy winner has been dealing with for the past 10 days.
“If this would’ve been a playoff game, he’d probably would have been playing,” Vigneault said. “It’s something that’s day-to-day that we think we can nip it in the bud. It may take a day or maybe two, but it’s something he should be able to turn the page on and won’t hear about it anymore.”
It’s hard to say when Lundqvist will be back in the crease for the Rangers, as the injury has been unspecified. However, it looks to be like it won’t be long, only because he was playing through the “nagging” pain and “irritation” for a couple of games this season already.
