Philadelphia 76ers coach says they only have ‘six NBA players’ on roster

Hmmm.

*starts counting on fingers*

Okay – by my calculations, an NBA roster consists of fifteen spots.

That can’t be good for the Philadelphia 76ers, who head coach Brett Brown recently said have six NBA players on their roster:

“You have six NBA players and then you have a bunch of guys who are fighting for spots and want to be seen and need opportunity.”

Okay, I get where Brown was going with this – it wasn’t really a slight to the other guys on the roster, or at least, it wasn’t meant in that capacity. However, if you were one of the players not named by Brown, I’m not sure how you don’t take it as a shot. Maybe Brown was simply trying to light a fire under the other players on the roster. Maybe he really feels that way. At this point, it’s hard to know though it did come off as a bit of a slight despite Brown likely not intending it to do so.

Riddled with injuries and an iffy roster, the Sixers are just 1-4 this preseason.
