Real Madrid has been cruising through this group. They’ve scored 10 goals so far, including six goals in Turkey against Galatasaray. Juventus currently sits in second in the group, but they’re four points behind. Getting a win in Madrid will be hard, even if they’re without Gareth Bale. The former Tottenham Hotspur star has been battling thigh injuries and has struggled to get his footing in Madrid.
“I think he is doing well. Since he arrived he’s had it a bit tough, he didn’t have a pre-season and he was injured so it’s not been easy for him, but you can see how excited he is to be here,” Cristiano Ronaldo said, via ESPN FC.
“We shouldn’t put too much pressure on him, that’s not good for him. He always wants to learn and we have to try and help him, not put pressure on him, and leave him alone, because I’m certain he’ll be very good for the team.”
Despite the fact that Real Madrid has a four point lead a third of the way through group play, Ronaldo knows they still need a win and more points.
“We have six points and no-one qualifies with just six points so we need to win the game,” he said.
“It’s a very big game and whoever wins the match will get a huge boost. We are at home and we have to try and win, we know Juve are strong and they will be hurt after losing to Fiorentina, but we have to play our football and be focused, that’s the only way we’ll win. If we get to nine points, we’ll be very close to qualifying.”
