According to the Minnesota Twins, left-handed All-Star closer Glen Perkins underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair the medial meniscus in his right knee.

Perkins, 30, went 2-0 with a 2.30 earned run average in 2013. He also notched 36 saves, which ranked ninth in the American League, finishing 53 games played. His earned run average, saves and games finished were all career-highs.

Minnesota has Perkins under contract for the next two seasons, and the first-time All-Star is expected to be 100 percent ready by the opening of Spring Training next year.
