Stop me if you’ve heard this before – Tyreke Evans didn’t play in a game due to an ankle injury.

Evans, who suffered a nasty ankle sprain in the New Orleans Pelicans’ preseason opener has yet to take the court since, though is tentatively scheduled to participate in the the Pelicans’ preseason finale against the Orlando Magic:

Pelicans G/F Tyreke Evans will not play vs. Heat tonight, but said he plans to play Friday at Orlando in preseason finale

Evans, who has a history of ankle problems was expected to play relatively shortly after suffering the injury, though, he never took the court and continued to push his return date back. Now wanting to get in some action before the regular season begins, Evans, barring any setbacks will plan on playing Friday night.

If he’s unable to, his status for the season opener which takes place October 30th against the Indiana Pacers will be in doubt.

The former Memphis product was acquired in a sign-and-trade with the Sacramento Kings earlier this offseason.
