Updated UEFA Champions League Group Standings

We’re officially half-way through the UEFA Champions League group play and things are starting to take shape. There were a lot of shocking results and upsets. The teams in first and second place in each group will move on to the round of 16. The teams in third place will move on to the Europa League tournament.
Manchester United stayed atop the group with a win over Real Sociedad courtesy of an own goal. Bayer Leverkusen beat Shakhtar Donetsk to move ahead of them in the table. Real Madrid kept their streak of wins alive beating Juventus in a close game. Galatasary moved into second with their first win over the Champions League group stage over FC Copenhagen.
Paris Saint-Germain dominated Adnerlecht to remain atop that group and have built quite a nice lead. Like Real Madrid, PSG has yet to lose. Olympiakos and Benfica tied to remain level in the group.
Bayern Munich’s domination continued, they won by a large margin over Viktoria Plzen to remain undefeated and atop the group. Manchester City moved into sole possession of second place with a win over CSKA Moscow.
Chelsea won their second game of group play by beating Schalke 04. That win pulled them even with Schalke atop the group. Steaua Bucuresti isn’t far behind, trailing those two clubs by two points.
Group F is very interesting. Three teams are tied with six points, and Marseille sits in fourth by them selves. Borussia Dortmund beat Arsenal in London to get the three points they needed to pull even. Napoli beat Marseile yesterday to get three points. This will be the most entertaining group to watch and it is understandable why some labeled this the “group of death.”
Group G is another that has one team pulling away. Atletico Madrid is undefeated and holding on to a 5-point lead. Zenit St. Petersburg moved into second following their one goal win over FC Porto.
AC Milan and Barcelona drew in Group H, keeping the Spaniards two points ahead of Milan. Celtic got their first points of the tournament over Ajax Amsterdam.
