Suddenly, the USC Trojans are right back to not being able to catch a break, at least none that would help them. The injury bug is now biting the USC cardinal and USC gold on both sides of the ball, this time claiming the defense as the target.
Starting middle linebacker Lamar Dawson is done for the season, after being diagnosed with a severe knee injury in Tuesday’s practice. Interim head coach Ed Orgeron announced the bad news on Wednesday, the same day Justin Davis was ruled out for the remainder after an injury against Notre Dame. It was also a day after offensive guard Jordan Simmons was lost for the season due to… you guessed it, a knee.
It looks like backup linebacker Anthony Sarao is all set to inherit the starting duties at MLB in this, his redshirt sophomore season. Dawson is a junior and should be ready to go at the beginning of 2014.
The Trojans are getting ready for a mixed slate of games that include Oregon St., Stanford and UCLA but also features the bottom two teams in Colorado and California. It all starts with Utah this week.
