Virginia Tech CB Antone Exum expects to play Saturday

The Virginia Tech Hokies have just one loss, falling to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the season-opener. The Hokies have struggled on offense throughout the season and have been forced to rely on a stout defense to carry them.

The defense has done just that. The Hokies are giving up only 15.0 points per game, fifth in the country.

They’ve done all of this without one of their better players, senior cornerback Antone Exum.

Exum, a 6’1 senior from Glen Allen, Virginia, hasn’t played since tearing his ACL during while playing basketball back in January.

When asked if he was going to play when the Hokies host the Duke Blue Devils Saturday, Exum told reporters “that’s the plan.”

“That’s what I’m preparing for and all that,” Exum told Andy Bitter of Hampton Roads. “I’m not going to give a clear answer until I’m actually out there, because we know how that’s gone in the past. But that’s the plan for me to play this weekend. I’m prepared to be the starting corner come Saturday.”

The Hokies and Blue Devils will kickoff at 3:30 pm EST and the game is on ESPNU.
