Dave Martinez is a candidate to replace Davey Johnson as Nationals manager

There are a few teams who are currently looking for that one skipper who can take the team they’ve built and turn them into a winning machine.

The Chicago Cubs are one of those teams and the man who is a top candidate in Washington, Dave Martinez, already interviewed him for the job not too long ago.

Both Rick Renteria and Dave Martinez are two guys who are slowly emerging as bench coaches who are destined to become big league managers. Martinez is a guy in this league who is respected by almost everybody, even rivals.

Now of course you can’t only have your eye set on one guy, I mean unless you’re dead set on that individual and believe they’ll accept the task of becoming your team anchor.

So besides Martinez, the Washington Nationals have had their eyes set on Toronto Blue Jays bench coach DeMarlo Hale, San Diego Padres assistant Brad Ausmus and World Series winner back in 2001, Matt Williams.

Right now the decision has to be between both Martinez and Williams.
