The National Hockey League has decided to offer Buffalo Sabres defenseman, John Scott, a in-person hearing following his late and uncalled for hit on Boston’s Loui Eriksson. He gave check to the head of Eriksson, causing him to fall to the ice, and be carried off by his teammates.
Eriksson stayed in a Buffalo hospital after the Bruins’ 5-2 victory over the Sabres, just for precautionary measures.
Everyone around the league knows about John Scott, however, for all the wrong reasons. They know he’s a dirty player, who deals out cheap shots as often as he can. However, the Sabres’ rivalry with the Boston Bruins remains to be one of the biggest in the league today.
Pierre LeBrun of ESPN, attributed a possible reason Scott was signed to a recent altercation with the B’s.
There is a history between these teams that most recently dates back two years ago when Bruins star Milan Lucic bowled over star Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller, which sparked the bad blood between the clubs, and most people also believe led to the Sabres acquiring Scott in the summer of 2012.
It remains to be seen what will happen to Scott after his hearing; he could get a ten game suspension, maybe more, or maybe less. Some people feel that he’s had his last chance and should be removed from the league entirely.
