Some more details emerged today about the selection committee responsible for determining the four teams worthy of participating in the new College Football Playoff. As executive director Bill Hancock said in his press conference, the committee will release four sets of standings throughout the season as opposed to the seven releases currently done by the BCS.
It’s a new paradigm. There will not be any master computer rankings. There will not be weekly announcements, like we have our BCS standings show, although the committee will be making about four announcements during the season — so that will be pretty close. We have seven BCS standings, so going to four in the future, I don’t think folks will notice a lot of difference in that (CBS Sports).
Oh no! Having only four releases means there will be three fewer opportunities for me to complain about the dreaded East Coast Bias! Where’s the fun in that, huh? The only reason why I even watch college football is to argue with my TV! Long live the BCS!
