When it comes to the 2013 Baylor Bears, it’s easy to question how much they’ve proven. Sure, 713 yards and 64.7 points per game are ridiculous stats, but against whom were those numbers achieved? Sure, the team is tied for first in the Big 12, but isn’t the conference having a down year? It’s not quite “haters gonna’ hate” and more “naysayers gonna’ say nay.”
Not surprisingly, former Baylor star Robert Griffin III thinks the nitpicking is hogwash. Griffin spoke on Wednesday about the lack of respect his alma mater receives:
Baylor has never gotten the respect that I feel it has earned over the past couple of years. People think if we’re winning the conference it’s because the conference is weak, not because Baylor is good. So the guys have a chip on their shoulders and it carries over to the pros. We have a chip on our shoulder.
Baylor being at the top of the Big 12 and high in the rankings is no joke (For the Win).
The undefeated Baylor Bears take on the 2-4 Kansas Jayhawks this weekend. If the Bears are able to secure another lopsided victory and follow it up with a win against Oklahoma on Nov. 7, expect the Rodney Dangerfield attitude to no longer be necessary.
