World Series 2013: James Taylor started signing America the Beautiful before National Anthem

I’m not going to pretend to know what it feels like to stand in front of 45,000 people with their eyes fixated on you. I imagine it’s far worse when you think about the 20 million people who are watching on television. Crap, I’m already started to get anxiety from the thought. That’s probably why I’m not a singer, well, other than the fact that I can’t sing – but really – if T-Pain can do it…

Anyway, I regress.

As Game 2 of the 2013 World Series was beginning, famed recording artist James Taylor took the mic and began to give a beautiful rendition of America the Beautiful. And that would be great, if it was the middle of the seventh inning (yes, I know, teams alter between America the Beautiful and God Bless America). But it was time for the National Anthem, which apparently, Taylor forget for a moment.

But like the pro that he is, Taylor quickly changed the tune without even blinking an eye, as he gave a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem to a very impressed crowd – brain fart or not.

After reading the headline, I thought it was really cool for JT to sign for all the deaf baseball fans…I guess we all make mistakes, don’t we? Here’s to one of the greatest singer/songwriters of all time who had a momentary lapse. I’m quite a few years younger and have done a lot worse, it’s just that cameras weren’t rolling at the time! Hail JT!

Fascinating. Dispite slip-ups, I respectfully believe that “The Star-Spangled Banner” should remain our national anthem, no matter what. Also, I consider “America the Beautiful” our answer to “Rule, Britannia.” Imagine, if a British sporting event opens with a British music performer performing his/her national anthem “God Save the Queen,” but performs a little bit of “Rule, Britannia” before trasitioning back to “God Save the Queen” without a blink of an eye. Speaking of “Rule, Britannia”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZofobwEepg
