Clasico: Gareth Bale has fitness concern

This weekend Real Madrid and Barcelona square off in the Clasico. Ever since Madrid brought in Bale, they’ve struggled with his fitness and to get him on the playing field. In five games this year he has played just 170 minutes. Bale played just 27 minutes in this week’s Champions League match against Juventus as a substitute.

If Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti wants to give him a bigger role and start him on Saturday, Bale thinks he is ready.

“I am not too sure, I have had a few minutes this week and I have had a good week’s training as well,” Bale said, via Sky Sports. “So I think I am fit enough. It is up to the manager now whether I play from the start or am on the bench.”

“Yeah I am sure it will be an amazing experience,” he said. “The most important thing is we try to win the game and get the three points. I am looking forward to it just like everyone else is.”

Bale has played in some rivalry games, but nothing like the Clasico. This will be his first experience in one of the biggest rivalry games in the world.

“Yeah I am sure it will be an amazing experience,” he said. “The most important thing is we try to win the game and get the three points. I am looking forward to it just like everyone else is.”
