There hasn’t been a lot to get excited over during the last few seasons in Detroit, at least from a basketball standpoint. Owner

has been well aware of that, so Gores went out and spent gobs of money this offseason. Whether or not it was money well spent remains to be seen, but at least for one night, it certainly was.

With the Pistons trailing by two points with just under four seconds left, high-prized offseason acquisition Josh Smith received the in-bounds pass about three feet behind the arch. Knowing time was limited, Smith fired up a desperation three point shot which clanked off the front of the rim, bouncing towards the sky. It wasn’t going to fall in, right? Even the softest of shooters wouldn’t get that roll.

But get that roll he did as the ball shimmied down the twine as the game clock ran out, giving the Pistons a win.

The team rushed together, celebrating the miraculous shot, including owner Tom Gores who did everything he could to join the happy festivities.
