Harrison Barnes may miss Golden State Warriors' season opener

Just a few days ago, Golden State Warriors forward Harrison Barnes suggested he wouldn’t miss the season opener, but head coach Mark Jackson isn’t so sure.

Barnes, who has been dealing with an inflamed toe/foot has been sidelined for weeks and both Barnes and the team were hopeful that the extended rest would give him enough time to heal prior to the season tipping off.

It’s worked to a point, though, Jackson says he’s not sure if Barnes will be ready:

-Q: Is there a question whether Harrison Barnes will be out for the opener? Is there a possibility he won’t be back for it?
-JACKSON: We’re going to stay true to the process. I guess you could say there’s a possibility–we’re not sure.

The Warriors have finished their preseason schedule, so their next game will be the opener against the Los Angeles Lakers on October 30th. The Warriors and Barnes are hopeful that five day window will be enough time to allow the former North Carolina star to suit up.
