If the New York Rangers were looking for a boost from Henrik Lundqvist on Saturday against the Detroit Red Wings, they might have to go ahead and look elsewhere. The goalie and New York’s brass have insisted that the issue plaguing Lundqvist isn’t serious, but after missing the game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday, he’s considered doubtful against Detroit.

That’s awful news for the Rangers, who are still scrambling to right the ship after a destructive season-opening road trip that has derailed their season thus far. Cam Talbot wasn’t bad against the Flyers, but the preference would obviously be to get Lundqvist in there, focused and going.
New York isn’t likely to do much damage without King ruling like he normally does.
On the flip-side, no Lundqvist is outstanding news for Detroit. They’ve suddenly lost three games in a row, their offense has dried up and they’re slowly sinking down the standings in the Eastern Conference. Both teams are desperate for a win, and both teams are shuffling up the lines while looking for answers in the offensive zone.
It wouldn’t be at all surprising to see this either be a 2-1 game or a 6-5 contest, based on how these two squads have been playing recently.
