Right when the Toronto Maple Leafs are getting David Clarkson back from suspension, they’re losing Joffrey Lupul to injury. Toronto took the ice tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets without the dynamic Lupul with them. According to the Toronto Globe and Mail, Lupul has a bone bruise on his right foot.
Consider Joffrey Lupul out tonight. He is not on the ice for pre-game warmup.

The injury was sustained during practice, irritating head coach Randy Carlyle. He sent out a message to his team asking them to wear shot-block protectors on their feet whenever they’re out on the ice. He spoke to the Globe and Mail about the guards earlier today:
The message) was just about common sense, guys. You don’t drive your car anymore without a seat belt. It’s basically the same principle.
Josh Leivo was inserted into the lineup in Lupul’s place.
No Lupul (bone bruise on right foot) on ice for Leafs pre-game warm-up; looks like Leivo draws in

With the Leafs looking to continue their rock solid start, health will clearly be paramount for the team moving forward. Lupul has an injury history, and it’s a good thing that his issue is only a bone bruise though.
