Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban has been unhappy with the way that fan attendance has been during the game. Last week, Saban grew frustrated with the fan attendance after people began leaving the stadium early.
Following the game, the university had a review of the student block seating situation and they have decided to suspend the seating for 20 student groups.
The students from those groups can still attend the games, but they will not have reserved seats.
The Student Government Association press secretary said the SGA will not release the names of suspended groups.
However, the SGA announced the following rows will be open to all students at Saturday’s game:
- Section 4: 18-46
- Section 5: 16-28, 36-46
- Section 6: 30-37, 41-43
- Section 7: 10-22, 28-50The block seating suspensions do not mean extra tickets will be available to Saturday’s game. Any UA student who has a ticket will still be allowed to attend the game, but suspended student organizations will not have reserved seats in the South end zone.
The report was later updated to include the names of the suspended group seating — Pi Kappa Phi, Phi Gamma Delta, Sigma Nu, Sigma Chi, Beta Theta Pi, Pi Kappa Alpha, Delta Kappa Epsilon, Chi Phi, Phi Kappa Psi, Kappa Sigma, Theta Chi, Sigma Tau Gamma, MBA, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Phi Delta Chi, Delta Tau Delta, Phi Kappa Sigma, Honors College Assembly.
If the groups continue to show “excessive tardiness or early departure from the stadium,” they will lose their block seating for the remainder of the season. If they get a third violation, they will lose their seating for all of next year.
