The Miami Hurricanes are trialing the Wake Forest Demon Deacons at the half, but it’s not because of the lack of effort from tight end Clive Walford. The junior TE had just 13 receptions this year entering today’s contest, but he’s made them at the most crucial moments.
According to ESPN, nine of his catches have gone for first downs and two more ended as touchdowns, and going back to last season, 22 of Walford’s last 24 receptions have accounted for either first downs or touchdowns.
In other words, The Canes need to throw more to him if they want to overcome Wake Forrest today, especially if he keeps making spectacular catches like this one:
As far as the rest of the game, he’s got two catches for 22 yards as his Canes trail 14-10 at half time, and they’ll need to find some more consistency on offense if they want to not only come back and win today, but stand any chance against the Florida State Seminoles next week.
