After missing three weeks with a turf toe injury, Taylor Martinez returned to the lineup at quarterback today for the Nebraska Cornhuskers in their match up against the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
The Husker, with Martinez under center, jumped out to an early lead and Martinez looked pretty good in the opening minutes. There’s no question that when Taylor is as healthy as he can be, this Huskers offense can click on all cylinders.
Well, the key to all of that is if Martinez is healthy and not taking some vicious shots that could wind him back up on the shelf, as was almost the case today.
In the first half against the Gophers, Martinez dropped back to pass and was blindsided by Minnesota’s Theoren Cockran who was coming off of the right edge.
Yeah, it’s hits like those that head coach Bo Pelini and the rest of the Nebraska nation does not want to see happen to arguably their biggest star.
Currently, Nebraska is in control 10-7 in the second quarter as they continue their quest for another Big Ten Title Game appearance.
