Alessio Sakara was set to make his 15th octagon appearance at UFC Fight Night 30, against UFC newcomer Nicholas Musoke. It was the third scheduled opponent for Sakara in the event, so you need to credit Musoke for stepping up on short notice, but he is a man that generally competes at welterweight and it was going to be interesting to see how he performed against a bigger, more power striker.
As expected, Sakara came out as the early aggressor and he was able to land a huge shot to the head of Musoke to immediately rock the UFC newcomer.
However, after Musoke got back to his feet, Musoke was able to come back with some big shots of his own to put Sakara in danger. It was a wild brawl in the early going with each man landing their own big shots, but Musoke ultimately landed a takedown and put Sakara on his back.
Sakara was very active from his guard and throwing some heavy blows from his back as he looked for a submission, but Musoke was able to pass to side control and begin to work for a choke of his own.
Sakara eventually exploded out from the bottom position before putting Musoke on his back and he began to return the favor and deliver some heavy ground-and-pound.
Then out of nowhere, Musoke was able to pull off a slick arm bar victory that left the arena shocked.
Musoke appeared to be in serious trouble, but he showed resilience and composure throughout the bout before locking up the fight ending submission.
Official time of the stoppage was 3:07 of Round 1.
