The AP top 10 is probably a little different than how the BCS top 10 will shake out, but let’s talk about some predictions for what we know at this point. The BCS rankings will be released at 8:30 EST this evening.
No. 8 Auburn Tigers
Auburn has been experiencing a meteoric rise back into the top 10 after shocking everybody to this point in the season with a 7-1 record. The schedule shakes out nicely, setting up a potential epic between No. 1 Bama and a potential top 5 Auburn at the end of the season. It was just a year ago that Bama laid the whoopin’ to their in-state rivals, so what a war that would be touted as.
Nov. 2 – @ Arkansas
Nov. 9 – @ Tennessee
Nov. 16 – Georgia
Nov. 30 – #1 Alabama
I said the schedule shakes out nicely for that top 5 opportunity, but at the same time if I’m an Auburn fan everything scares me in this run. I think they get by Arkansas and Tennessee in close games, although the Vols at home are going to take it to the wire.
Somehow though, I don’t think Auburn gets either of the last two games at home. Georgia should be as healthy as they have been in several weeks and will trip the Tigers up. Then Bama will come in and I think we all know Auburn isn’t up to that task.
