Charmaine Tweet faces Julia Budd in Invicta FC debut

One of the newest members on the Invicta Fighting Championships rosters is “Not So Sweet.”

Charmaine Tweet will make her debut in the Invicta cage against fellow Canadian Julia “The Jewel” Budd. For Tweet, The Jewel will be a good test for her first time on a big stage on North American soil.

Although she had a rough patch in the beginning of her first few fights, the Not So Sweet Canadian seems to have found her groove. She has won her last three fights, all of them by way of submission in the first round.

However Budd has also improved, especially since she signed with Invicta FC. Like Tweet, The Jewel is riding a three-fight winning streak, with all three of her wins being finishes.

While Tweet certainly has an advantage in the grappling, Budd has shown improvement in her own ground game. In her last fight she submitted Molly Estes with a rear-naked choke in the third round. When it comes to the striking, Budd has the edge due to her three KO victories and her extensive background in Muay Thai; however Tweet also has Muay Thai experience.

Once again props to Invicta FC for putting together what should be an exciting fight for the 140-pound division. Whoever wins this fight could be considered as a candidate to face Cris “Cyborg” Justino for the Invicta FC Featherweight championship.
