The Carolina Hurricanes might be tempted to ask Jeff Skinner to dress as a goalie if he’s able to return on Friday. Cam Ward had an MRI earlier today, and it confirmed his four-week recovery timeline . The ‘Canes won’t be able to lean on Ward for the next month, but avoided a bullet when it was revealed that Skinner might be able to play by this weekend.
It was previously unclear how long the bounce-back forward would be out.

With the Hurricanes having lost their last two games and perhaps en route to dropping a third consecutive contest to the Pittsburgh Penguins (in progress), they can use all the healthy bodies they can get. Especially when the guy they’re getting back is a talented player like Skinner.
As for Ward, the Raleigh News Observer confirmed Ward’s four-week timetable after his scan this morning. As per their report:
The Canes’ Cam Ward and Jeff Skinner both have MRIs on Sunday. Muller said Skinner, who skated Monday before the team skate, might be able to play Friday against Tampa Bay. The prognosis on Ward remains the same: the goalie is out two to four weeks.
