Golden State Warriors 2013-2014 season preview
By David Miniel
If there’s one team that anybody should be excited about besides the Chicago Bulls, is this Golden State Warriors team.
They currently have one of the best shooters if not the best shooter in the game in Stephen Curry. I honestly believe this young man will one day win the MVP of this league. I know, right now I probably got a couple hundred weird looks, but he still has a lot of time to improve his game, which is a scary thing.
All Curry is going to do is get better, there’s no declining in his game in the future unless age catches up to him quick when he’s in his mid 30’s and stops him dead in his tracks.
This squad has a lot of talent all over the court with guys like David Lee, Andrew Bogut, Harrison Barnes, Klay Thompson, Curry himself and now Andre Iguodala? Golden State is definitely going to be a huge threat in the Western Conference so teams like the Lakers, Spurs, Thunder and Rockets need to keep this team in their rear view and keep a close eye on them.
Iguodala is that veteran player that this team needs to get that extra jolt out of this team. It’ll be his second team in just as many seasons as he was traded to the Denver Nuggets last year from the Sixers, but he’s going to fit in just fine with this organization.
This finished 47-35 last season which was good enough for second in the Pacific Division, sixth overall in the Western Conference. They got through the first round of the playoffs against Andre Iguodala and the Denver Nuggets, winning the series four games to two which put them up against the San Antonio Spurs.
They traded away Andris Biedrins, Richard Jefferson and Brandon Rush along with some draft picks and cash for Kevin Murphy. The trade freed up $24 million in cap relief which allowed them to sign Iguodala.
There’s a lot you can expect from this team this season. Fast pace on the court offensively and defensively, Iguodala being Iguodala with Bogut and Jermaine O’Neal crashing the boards and Curry, Lee, Thompson hitting those long range shots.
I’m loving this combination of Curry/Iguodala. Can’t wait until they start winning games when it actually counts.
