The Nashville Predators may be without Pekka Rinner for the foreseeable future, but at least Roman Josi has been cleared for contact. There hadn’t been any updates on his condition recently, which seemingly pointed toward the young defenseman missing an extended period of time.
Nashville bucked that line of thinking today though, and cleared Josi for contact.

Given his recent concussion history, there was some reason to be concerned about Josi moving forward. He’s got the green light now though, and could join his teammates in the lineup soon.
He’s only played in two games so far this season, and has no points to his name. Josi, at 23, is still a promising offensive defenseman for Nashville. He scored 18 points in 42 games in 2013 and is slowly coming along on the backend for the Preds. While it’s incredibly unlikely that he ends up in a top-pairing role any time soon, Josi is a slick puck mover that could settle in nicely on either the second or third pair for the Predators.
Seth Jones has buried everyone not named Shea Weber on the depth chart, so it’s not really indicative of Josi’s level of play that he hasn’t been playing a lot of minutes this year.
