This season has to be do or die for veterans like Tony Parker and Tim Duncan who may be entering the final seasons of their career.

Last season they were so close to winning their fifth NBA Championship dating back to their first championship in franchise history in 1999. You all remember that team right? David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Sean Elliot, Mario Elie and Avery Johnson locked up first place in both the Midwest Division and Western Conference Finals, defeating the New York Knicks in the NBA Finals.

During the NBA Finals, shooting guard Danny Green showed everybody what type of player he really was. Hitting three after three, his biggest games coming in the first five games of the series, scoring 12, 17, 27, 10 and 24 points. You would have to think he put himself ahead of Manu Ginobli on the depth chart with a performance like that as they prepare for another run at the NBA Finals.

As long as Tim Duncan and Tony Parker are on the same squad together, this team is always going to be a threat in the Western Conference.

Last season this team finished 58-24 which was good enough for first place in the Southwest Division and second overall in the Western Conference behind the Oklahoma Thunder.

They were able to defeat the Dallas Mavericks in March which extended their NBA record of 14 consecutive 50 plus win seasons and also clinched a playoff spot. San Antonio clinched the division against the Atlanta Hawks on April 6th against the Atlanta Hawks which was the fourth time in six years.

Re-signing both Tiago Splitter and Manu Ginobili was huge for this organization. Although Splitter struggled to score once in awhile against the Heat and caused a couple turnovers, he’s still a key member of this team.

They waived center Marcus Cousin, guard Myck Kabongo and Corey Maggett on October 15th which dropped their roster to 15.

This season the Spurs could possibly put Ginobili at small forward whenever Kawhi Leonard needs a break, considering he’s pretty much the only small forward they have on their team.

Big man Tim Duncan is entering his 17th season in the league as he averaged 17.8 points, 9.9 rebounds, 2.7 blocks and 24.45 minutes per game during the 2013 regular season. During the Finals he averaged 26.3 minutes and shot .490 from the field while averaging 12.1 rebounds and 18. 9 points per game.

Parker averaged 20.3 points, 7.6 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 23.10 minutes per game during the regular season. In the seven game series against the Heat, he averaged 35.4 points per game which I believe was the highest out of the entire group. He shot .412 from the field, averaged 6.4 assists and 15.7 points per game.

All eyes will be on this trio of veterans this season.
