D.J. Calhoun, a four-star linebacker out of El Cerrito High School in California, announced on Sunday that he’s committed to the Arizona State Sun Devils. Calhoun said he came away very impressed when he visited Arizona State back on Nov. 20 for their game against the Washington Huskies:
That visit blew my mind away. I never knew it was going to be exactly like that. Their defense. The town, the city, the fans, the players. I was talking with (senior safety) Alden Darby, who was my host, and he said he wished he had two more years there with the coaches because they treat everybody like family. He loves the education part. He just loves it, and my visit lived up to that. Just being around everybody, I felt like I was already going to school there. There was just something about it that really got me. I thought to myself, ‘I need to be here’ (AZ Central).
Calhoun reportedly received scholarship offers from 11 schools in the Pac-12. He’s the 18th player ASU has landed in their 2014 recruiting class.
