As we reported earlier, The Simpsons does plan to write Bart Simpson’s 4th Grade teacher, and Ned Flanders’ 2nd Wife, Edna Krabappel out of the storyline in wake of the passing of actress Marcia Wallace; however, it won’t be for quite some time.
TMZ is reporting that they have spoken with Simpsons executive producer Al Jean regarding the situation with Mrs. Krabappel, and he tells them that no one could possibly fill Marcia Wallace’s shoes as the voice of Edna Krabappel, so they are not even going to venture to try.
He says that while producers do plan to write the lovelorn 4th Grade teacher off of the show, there is definitely no rush. The show is produced quite far in advance. So far, in fact, that Marcia has a year’s worth of episodes that were recorded prior to her passing.
As we reported before, the Simpsons producers have been planning to end the life of one of their veteran characters; however, Mrs. Krabappel is not that character.
According to the TMZ report, Jean would not reveal when or how Mrs. Krabappel would be written out of the story.
In regards to Marcia Wallace, TMZ is reporting that she will be laid to rest in the next few days in a private ceremony.
