The Wisconsin Badgers announced on Tuesday that star linebacker Chris Borland will likely play when the team takes on the Iowa Hawkeyes this weekend. Borland strained his right hamstring against Illinois and used Wisconsin’s bye week to recover.
Said head coach Gary Anderson:
He would not have played last Saturday. It came at a great time for Chris because I know how much it means to him and how much it means for us to have him on the field. And, for our football team, we took advantage of it, tried to get our legs back underneath us as much as possible (ESPN).
Borland himself also weighed in:
I’m really not a big percentage guy, either you can go or you can’t. Today, I couldn’t. But by Wednesday or Thursday, I will be able to. It’s the type of thing where you have to give it time. There’s really no toughing out a hamstring. The bye week came at a good time and that is enough rest.
Coverage of the game between the Badgers and the Hawkeyes will begin at noon ET on Saturday. The game can be seen on ABC or ESPN2.
