With the Chicago White Sox picking up one of the biggest Cuban free agents this off-season, they’re currently getting some interested from the Toronto Blue Jays when it comes to infielder Gordon Beckham.
The 27 year old right handed hitter has a career .249 batting average with 54 home runs and 240 runs batted in, in his seven year Major League Career.
According to Scott Merkin of MLB.com, the Toronto Blue Jays were interested in trading for Beckham during the off-season last year but never got a deal in plact to acquire him.
This year he batted 267/.322/.372 with five home runs and 24 RBI’s through 371 plate appearances with the White Sox this year.
His numbers dropped from 16 home runs and 60 RBI’s last season. He also seen 48 games less than he did during the 2012 season. That season happens to be his career high in almost every offensive category. With the White Sox thinking of the future, it will be interesting to see if Beckham is involved in those plans.
If not, the Blue Jays could be getting ready to let go a couple young prospects for Beckham.
