Arizona State at Washington State: Game preview, odds and prediction

The second leg of ESPN’s doubleheader tonight is a Pac-12 showdown between the 5-2 Arizona State Sun Devils and the 4-4 Washington State Cougars.

Arizona State comes into this one coming off not only a bye week, but a rather impressive 53-24 victory over the Washington Huskies on Oct. 19. Head coach Todd Graham and his team are back within the Top 25 rankings as of last week and will look to possibly climb even further with a win tonight.

Washington State, with that 4-4 record, is fighting for bowl eligibility. The Cougars are also coming off a bye week and are riding a tough two-game losing streak, although those losses were to two very good teams in Oregon State and Oregon. Plus, with this passing attack and a questionable ASU secondary, grabbing themselves a fifth win this evening isn’t completely out of the question.

Date: Oct. 31

Time: 10:30 pm ET

Location: Pullman, Washington

Stadium: Martin Stadium

TV: ESPN

Odds: Arizona State -11.5

Prediction: Arizona State is riding a lot of momentum and confidence into this one, especially after that performance they put up against Washington. This seems like a much more determined team and can make some noise in the Pac-12, which is what a lot of us expected in the preseason from these guys.

But, you never know what a team coached by Mike Leach can pull off. When this Wazzu passing game is on, it’s on.

In the end, though, Arizona State is too confident of a team at this point to let this one slip away.
