Athletic Bilbao has had a great start to their season They sit in fifth place with 19 points and just out of reach of one of the coveted top 4 Champions League spots. Elche has had a less impressive start to their season. They’re in 12th place in the bottom half of the table with 12 points.

Elche is coming off a tough 1-0 loss to Granada.

“There is no point looking back,” defender Damian Suarez said, via ESPN FC. “We keep working hard. The team is thinking only of the game on Thursday. There are three important points and the fact we have not ever won there is an important motivation for us.”

“The team left everything on the field but it was not our day,” Elche midfielder Javi Marquez said. “We left the pitch very frustrated.

“The goal went the way everything seems to go and although we tried everything things would not go for us. Now we have another chance to catch up with those who have been doing well. Getting another win would be critical.”
