Cincinnati Reds announce several roster moves

The Cincinnati Reds are aiming to get back to the top of the National League Central this season with a new skipper in the dugout.

Today the team announced several roster moves which could possibly result in two players leaving the organization.

Right handed pitcher Greg Reynolds and catcher Corky Miller were both out-righted to Triple-A Louisville and removed from the 40 man roster.

The 28 year old right hander posted a 5.52 ERA with a 1.47 WHIP through 29 1/3 innings of work with the Reds at the Major League level.

Between both players, Miller has a better chance of leaving the franchise. The 37 year old may be looking retirement right in the eyes after being removed from the 40 man roster after putting up a batting line of .193/.277/.306 in his career.

With both men being out-righted to the Minors, the Reds have claimed right handed pitcher Pedro Beato off waivers from the Boston Red Sox.

Beato was designated for assignment last week to open up a roster spot for Alex Castellanos. The 26 year old relieve pitcher had a 3.60 ERA in 10 relief appearances for the World Series winning Boston Red Sox.

He’ll have to compete for a spot in the bullpen in Spring Training.
