Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney thinks QB Tajh Boyd sometimes loses focus

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney and the rest of the Clemson Tigers got themselves back up on their feet last week with a win over Maryland, one week after being demoralized at home by conference rival Florida State.

But, things were scary there for a bit due to the Tigers getting off to a rather slow start to begin the game against the injury-depleted Terps.

Senior QB Tajh Boyd was a little off his game once again after looking completely dumbfounded a week earlier when he had to face the FSU defense. Now whether that has to do with Boyd not being as much of a Heisman contender as we thought he was or if he’s becoming complacent, that we may never fully know.

Swinney, though, is going to maybe side with complacency and his quarterback just flat out losing focus on some things sometimes.

“Tajh has a procedure, kind of a checklist of things he needs to do. Sometimes he just skips to step four just because he takes some things for granted. It’s just a matter of getting him to focus on those things.”

The Tigers, should Florida State run the table and make it in to the BCS Championship Game with some help, still have a shot at a BCS at-large berth down the road. So, Swinney better hope that Boyd begins to focus on these things.
