Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Sidney Rice sadly will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL, and while his loss seems little judging bu his numbers (15 catches for 231 yards and three touchdowns), his loss will help Golden Tate’s production rise for the remainder of the season. Even when Percy Harvin returns, Tate is the only receiver quarterback Russell Wilson has any chemistry with and trusts at the same time.
He and Tate have hooked-up a lot since Wilson become the starting QB last year, but Rice did just enough to keep Tate from ever being a consistent fantasy option. For at least the next few weeks, Tate will see a lot of targets every game, and he’s now considered a WR-2 or flex play. He’s available in many standard leagues, so go pick him up if he’s still on your league’s waiver wire.
Not long after Rice went down Monday, Tate went on to catch an 80-yard touchdown that reminded everyone of his game-breaking potential. That play alone helped him produce more than a lot of WR-1s and 2s did last week (outside of Calvin Johnson), and for at least this week, Tate should be treated as a WR-2 option vs a struggling Tampa Bay Buccaneers secondary.
