Johnny Boychuk left the game between the Boston Bruins and Anaheim Ducks tonight and the team has yet to release any official details on the matter. Before he left the game he appeared to take a shot to the hand, but that’s purely speculation at this juncture. The Bruins managed to tie the game up late, but are still without Boychuk.
UPDATE: Johnny Boychuk will not return to tonight’s game ^BB

The 6’2″, 225 pound Boychuk is a very important part of Boston’s blue line. He plays more than 20 minutes a night on average and while he’s never been a big-time point producer, he plays some tough minutes for the Bruins. Boychuk was forced out of the contest only a few minutes into the second period.
Johnny Boychuk won’t return to tonight’s game. Looked like he might have caught a puck there in the 2nd period #BruinsTalk

While the puck theory is still up in the air, a bad bruise is something that is preferable to say, an MCL tear or something along those lines. We’ve already seen Detroit Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard miss a few games after taking a puck to the hand, so at this juncture that might be the worst-case scenario for Boychuk and the Bruins.
Unless, of course, it was something else.
