Making a transition is always hard and name mix-ups and slips are always waiting around the corner. Unfortunately sometimes when they come, you’re in a crowded arena on television with a microphone in your hand.

New Orleans Pelicans’ new start Jrue Holiday wanted to welcome fans of the Pelicans on Wednesday night. The only problem is, he welcomed them on behalf of the Philadelphia 76ers, not the Pelicans.

“On behalf of myself and the Sixers, we want to welcome y’all to the first Pelican game,” Holiday says.

So he was half-right. An honest mistake indeed, but still kind of funny. He doesn’t even notice, like a pro he just keeps going.

For what it is worth, Holiday performed well in the game. They lost 95-90 to the Indiana Pacers but he was second on the team in scoring with 24 points and 8 of 18 shooting. Meanwhile, the Sixers defeated the reigning NBA Champions Miami Heat. A big game to win early in the season indeed.
