Another one of the prominent characters in the upcoming Universal Pictures and Focus Features adaption of E.L. James’ bestselling novel Fifty Shades of Grey has been cast. How to Make it in America actor Victor Rasuk has been cast as José Rodriguez, Anastasia Steele’s lovable best male friend, and Christian Grey’s main competition for Anastasia’s affections.
Rasuk will be joining Once Upon A Time’s Jamie Dornan, who stepped in as the billionaire CEO Christian Grey when Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam bowed out of the role. He will also be joining Ben and Kate’s Dakota Johnson, who will be playing the shy, young college student Anastasia Steele whose chance encounter with Christian Grey leads her down a road that she certainly never expected.
As I said before, José is a very close friend of Anastasia. He is a classmate of hers as well as a aspiring photographer. His affections for Anastasia lead him down a very interesting road that almost leads to trouble with Christian, who on top of dealing with his internal issues, is strenuously vying for Miss Steele’s sole affection.
Fifty Shades of Grey, directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, also stars True Blood’s Luke Grimes as Christian Grey’s younger brother Elliot, and Zero Dark Thirty’s Jennifer Ehle as Carla, Anastasia’s sometimes absent, but nonetheless loving mother.
In addition to Fifty Shades of Grey, Rasuk can also be seen in the upcoming reboot of the Godzilla franchise, which also stars director Sam Taylor-Johnson’s husband Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
Fifty Shades of Grey is scheduled to be released August 1, 2014.
