Report: Geno Atkins suffers torn ACL

Halloween didn’t treat the Cincinnati Bengals very well. The Bengals ended up going deep in overtime with the Miami Dolphins before Cameron Wake recorded his third sack of the game that resulted in a walk-off safety.

Unfortunately for the Bengals, the overtime loss was the least of their concerns.

Star defensive tackle Geno Atkins, who is among the best interior defensive linemen in the NFL, left the game early after being carted back to the team’s locker room. After the game, Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said that the injury was to Atkins’ ACL.

The worst news was yet to come.

According to Mike Silver, Atkins has suffered a torn ACL:

It was the worst case scenario for the Cincinnati Bengals, who can now lose ground in the AFC North and the most talented player on their roster at the same time.
