USC at Oregon State: Game preview, odds and prediction

To kick off the month of November in college football, ESPN’s Friday night action this evening will feature a match up between the 5-3 USC Trojans and the 6-2 Oregon State Beavers.

Oregon State will welcome in the Trojans to Corvallis one week after suffering a tough loss at home to no. 6 Stanford. This Oregon State team didn’t play well throughout, but fought their way back in the fourth quarter to come within eight late in the game. However, they weren’t able to convert a fourth-down play with seconds left on the clock to possibly tie the game and fell just short of the upset.

USC, in their last game, enjoyed a dominant 19-3 victory over the Utah Utes at home last weekend, their second victory in three games with interim coach Ed Orgeron at the helm. Since Orgeron has taken over, even in the loss to Notre Dame, this team has just looked refreshed all-around.

Date: Nov. 1

Time: 9pm ET

Location: Corvallis, Ore.

Stadium: Reser Stadium

Live Stream: ESPN3

Odds: Oregon State -4

Prediction: This is an intriguing match up. USC has been playing with a lot of emotion recently, which may put them in prime position for the upset. But, Reser Stadium is an extremely difficult place to play and I’m not sure the pieces are on this USC team to handle that type of atmosphere. Plus, you couple that with Oregon State searching to prove themselves once again after last week’s heartbreaker against Stanford, and the Beavers should be able to grab their seventh win on the year in this one.
