There was a big game in the English Premier League today. First place Arsenal took on third place Liverpool in a battle for the top of the table. With Chelsea losing, Liverpool had the chance to move into first place with a win.

Santi Cazorla gave Arsenal an early lead with a goal in the nineteenth minute. His header bounced off the woodwork and back into play and Cazorla put in the back of the net.

Liverpool looked sluggish as they tried to keep up with the Arsenal attack. Going into the half, Arsenal had 58 percent of the possession and the advantage in tackles and shots on goal.

Early in the second half Arsenal picked up where they left off. They scored in the 59th minute, just 14 minutes into the half. Aaron Ramsey got a pass into the middle just outside the box. He touched it down and waited for it to bounce before kicking it and scoring. It looked like he was going to take a shot but hesitated and then took a shot after it bounced, it is a bit crazy how much time he had to take the shot, Liverpool’s defense didn’t close down quickly at all.

Late in the game, Luis Suarez was coming in from one corner of the box with the ball. Daniel Sturridge was across the box calling for the pass. Suarez took a shot and missed and Sturridge through his hands up in the air and looked at Suarez.

The Gunners then held on to win and take a commanding lead in the English Premier League having defeated third place Liverpool and with second place Chelsea falling to Newcastle United.
