Today marks yet another edition in the storied rivalry between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Navy Midshipmen. Since World War 2, there has been an agreement in place between the two that they will play each other every year, and it’s certainly something both fan bases look forward to every year.

There was a special moment prior to today’s game, however, that highlighted the Naval Academy.

After canceling most of their shows for 2013, it was announced this week that the Navy’s famed Blue Angels flying team would be returning to air shows full time beginning in 2014. There are fans of the team all over the world, so this was exciting news to many.

Before today’s game, as the national anthem was being played, the team gave a bit of a sneak preview as they did a quick flyover of Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend.
