Miami at Florida State: Hurricanes RB Duke Johnson leaves game with leg injury

As the fourth quarter approaches, the Florida State Seminoles are beginning to run away from the Miami Hurricanes in the primetime showdown on ABC as they lead the seventh-ranked ‘Canes 35-14.

Things, however, just got a little bit worse for Miami.

Late in the third quarter, star running back Duke Johnson went down after a run with an apparent leg injury and has left the game after being helped off the field.

Johnson was a big reason that the Hurricanes were able to keep this game somewhat close to begin with, as he continually found whatever small spaces were open in that vaunted Florida State defense throughout the evening.

Johnson leaves the game with 97 yards on 23 carries with no touchdowns.

Dallas Crawford, who has also been stellar this season for Miami should be taking over the running back duties for the remaining minutes that are left in the game.

In an update, Johnson was driven back to the locker room on a cart, and ESPN’s Tom Rinaldi just stated on the broadcast that the initial prognosis is an ankle sprain.
