It’s not exactly easy to get Michael Jordan to talk, namely because when he does, people like myself jump all over the quotes.
Case in point? When Jordan, who sat down with ESPN recently was asked about who he feels the best player in the NBA is currently, he seemingly passed the torch to LeBron James – though there was a small caveat in his line of reasoning.
When asked who’s the best player in the game, Jordan quickly responded, ”I’m not playing” before letting out a laugh. ”It’s hard to pick. It’s hard to say the best player,” Jordan said. ”You would have to say LeBron because of what he’s capable of doing. Kobe is coming off an injury and you don’t know where he is going to be at his age. I would have to say LeBron.”
So, it appears Jordan couldn’t really give a definitive answer, so gave it to LeBron by default. Talk about being politically correct. That said, I can’t imagine that sat all that well with Kobe Bryant despite the fact that Jordan has always praised the lifelong Los Angeles Lakers guard.
In all honesty though, hard to disagree with his line of reasoning or his decision.
