If it wasn’t for quarterback Jordan Lynch, the Northern Illinois Huskies wouldn’t have a chance at a BCS bowl berth. Instead, they are one of the most exciting teams in the nation that are not in a power conference and they should once again earn a trip to a BCS bowl.

But what about Lynch’s chances at the Heisman Trophy?

You can’t deny what this kid can do on the field, but he continues to fly under the radar.

After throwing for 160 yards and a touchdown today, along with 119 rushing yards and four touchdowns, Lynch is on pace for an unbelievable 2,706 passing yards, 1,661 rushing yards and 45 total touchdowns this season.

These are the kind of numbers that should earn you a trip to New York as a Heisman Trophy finalist, but Lynch will have to receive more votes than guys like Johnny Manziel, AJ McCarron, Tajh Boyd and Duke Johnson if he wants to make that trip to New York City.

It’s unfortunate that he consistently gets passed over by the voters, but those who are paying close attention know Lynch deserves plenty of praise.

Let’s hope that he gets the trip to New York that he deserves, but if he doesn’t it just goes to show how the lack of strong opponents hurts your chances at winning the most prestigious award in college football.
